Former NFL star Hope Solo pleaded guilty to DWI on Monday and was given a suspended sentence and a fine following her arrest in North Carolina earlier this year.
40-year-old Solo was found in a shopping center parking lot unconscious behind the wheel of a car with her two-year-old twins inside. She was also accused of child abuse and resisting an officer in connection with the March 31 incident. According to the Winston Salem Journal, her attorney Chris Clifton said the latest charges were voluntarily dismissed.
The Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office said in a press release that Solo received a 24-month suspended sentence and an effective 30-day prison sentence. She was given a 30-day credit for the time she spent at an inpatient rehabilitation facility and ordered to pay $2,500 in fines and a $600 fee for the cost of lab tests.

She was also required to obtain a drug use assessment and to complete all recommended treatments.
In a statement issued after the judge issued her discipline, Solo said she was proud of being a mother and how she and her husband treated their children during the pandemic, “It was very difficult and she made a huge mistake.”
“Easily the worst mistake of my life,” she said. “I underestimated the destructive part of my life that alcohol became.” “The upside to making a mistake of this magnitude is that hard lessons are learned quickly. Learning those lessons has been difficult, and at times, very painful.”

The two-time Olympic gold medalist was also arrested in 2014 in a domestic violence incident with her sister and nephew in Washington state. However, the charges were dropped in 2018 after a lengthy appeal process.
He played solo with the US national team from 2000 to 2016, and participated in winning the World Cup in 2015 and winning the Olympic gold medal in 2008 in Beijing and 2012 in London. She was a member of the team when the team won silver and bronze in the 2011 and 2007 World Cups, respectively.
