Kevin Feige: The Avengers Movies Are Now Saga Cappers, Not Just Team Movies – IGN

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, explained why the Avengers films are now in a position to be composed of epic stories rather than the blockbuster blockbusters that reach the concluding chapters of each stage of the MCU.

Speaking to MTV News at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Feige discussed the future of the MCU and how there has been a shift in the way they paint their projects, with the Avengers films now being put to the end of an entire saga consisting of multiple phases rather than being released as a film that culminates each individual stage. , bearing in mind that there are now more projects over fewer years.

β€œThe truth is, when we were doing Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3, there were fewer projects over more years,” Feige emphasized, mirroring earlier phases of the MCU. β€œThey were smaller projects and individual character stories, and I felt it was fitting at that point, that after every two or three years that it takes for a stage, we’re going to make an Avengers movie.

Comprising MCU Phases 1, 2, and 3, the Infinity Saga series featured four Avengers films over seven years, with the first Avengers film released in 2012 and the latest in 2019. The first three Avengers films were released three years between each, while Infinity War and Endgame debuted one year apart from each other.

The next Avengers movie, The Kang Dynasty, is set for release in 2025, six years after Endgame hit theaters. Feige explained that the largest gap between the Avengers films is due in part to the fact that the big superhero films are now pervasive in every stage of the MCU, which changes the way the Avengers films affect release schedules.

“as such [Phase] It was 4, 5, and 6 coming together, and there are more projects in less years – because of all the amazing things we’re now allowed to do on Disney+, getting characters from Fox, Fantastic Four and Deadpool – that definitely felt like after ‘Infinity War’ And ‘Endgame,’ we thought ‘Avengers’ weren’t Caper movies, ‘said’ a lot of our movies now – ‘Multiverse of Madness’ and what you’re about to see in [‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’], are all big blockbuster movies that offer big chunks of mythology…The Avengers movies should really be the main factor in an epic story. “

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be directed by Destin Daniel Creighton and will close Phase 6 alongside Avengers: Secret Wars. The Kang Dynasty will hit the big screen on May 2, 2025, and Secret Wars will release six months later on November 7, 2025. Phase 6 will also officially conclude the MCU’s second saga, now known as The Multiverse Saga.

Secret Wars may be the biggest Marvel movie to date, one that could dwarf even Avengers: Endgame in scope and the sheer number of characters involved.
