New footage of One Direction being formed shows whether Liam Payne’s latest comments are too accurate

“If he is the lead, he can be the leader.”

The footage was released to celebrate the 12th anniversary of One Direction – which was formed into the show after each member initially auditioned unsuccessfully as a solo act. However, timing is especially important this year given Liam Payne’s recent comments about 1D formation.

Some important context is worth mentioning here. Experience Liam for the first time The tenth factor Back in 2008 and made it to the tour stage at Simon Cowell’s house when he was just 14 years old. However, Simon didn’t think he was ready at the time – and told him to go back to school and re-examine for the show in another two years.

Side note: Remember the “more than 25 seconds” category in The tenth factor? I’m practically old.

Speaking on the Logan Paul podcast last month, Liam said, “From what I’ve heard, part of the reason for creating One Direction was because of Simon Lee’s promise that ‘in two years, I’ll do this for you. “So he started with my face, then worked around the rest… I was the honorary member of One Direction. He told me that story himself at his house.”

These allegations dominated my TikTok FYP like no other.

Comments spread so quickly, that Lizzo even chimed in on TikTok by saying, “I don’t know who lied to that poor boy, but he was.” Not front man.

So, what do these new shots show? The 2010 segment begins with the judges examining the group of photos of the male contestants, deciding which photos could be in “fantasy” groups together. Next, we see Nicole Scherzinger move Niall’s photo up the table.

“We loved it,” Lewis said excitedly of the young Harry whom Nicole proposes to put up with Niall.

“They are the best gang ever!” Nicole adds, as a photo of Louis has been added to the pile. “Little girls will love them.”

“They are very talented to get rid of. They have the right look and the right charisma on stage,” she says. “They’re like little stars, so you can’t get rid of little stars – you put them all together.”

Then it comes to a picture of Liam. Simon begins, before referring to the group of boys chosen to proceed as individuals: “It was the outstanding test.” “Don’t you think it should be there?”

“I don’t think so,” Nicole replies. “If he is the lead, he can be the leader.”

Simon responds, “He thinks he’s better than everyone else on that list.”

“No, Simon. He has confidence. But he’s good, and consistent,” says Louis Walsh in turn, before all the judges are surprised by the appearance of the four boys together.

Then Judge Louis Zane proposes to the group, which everyone immediately agrees with. According to Simon: “Now who – which good idea!”

“This is the class I want,” he continues, which will end up being true — Simon served as a mentor for the groups class that year (and would later sign it after the show).

So, what does this mean for Liam’s latest allegations? Well, One Direction’s idea started with it [his] “It doesn’t look terribly accurate based on the clip – it’s Niall’s face, not Liam’s face which is the initial building block. However, I think we can still safely measure two things: 1) Simon has gotten Liam back when it comes to staying on the show, according to For his earlier “promise.” 2) It seems that Liam was initially seen as the leader of the squad.
