Rapper “JayDaYoungan” was shot dead in his hometown of Bogaloosa, Louisiana, on Wednesday night. He was 24 years old.
The musician, whose real name is Gavorius Scott, was involved in a shooting that was reported to the local Louisiana police just before 6 p.m.
Scott was taken to Our Lady of Angels emergency room in a personal vehicle, where he died “of his injuries,” according to a statement posted on the Bugalusa Police Department’s Facebook page.
Another victim in the community 70 miles north of New Orleans was seriously injured and taken to hospital by ambulance.

“Kenyata Scott Sr. has been moved to another facility and we are told he is in stable condition,” the statement read.
Several outlets reported that Kenyatta is the father of Gavorios, but authorities said the surviving victim was a “relative” of the rapper and would not discuss her relationship.
Police were then notified of another shooting shortly after 7 p.m., about four miles from the first shooting. Authorities said a car was hit by bullets, but its occupants were not injured, according to police.
Bugalooza police investigators said they believe the shootings are linked. Investigators have linked Scott to rival gang crimes in parts of rural Louisiana in recent months. They said they believed the violence was retaliatory. The investigation is ongoing.
In June 2021, Scott was released from prison after serving seven months for possession of a firearm while convicted of a felony. In September of that year, he was arrested on charges of obstruction of justice and participation in second degree murder that took place in Louisiana. The following month, he was arrested for multiple felonies, including the illegal use of a dangerous controlled substance in the presence of minors.

Bogaloosa Mayor Wendy Perrett, in a statement, urged residents to remain calm during the police investigation.
“The foolish shooting in Bugalusa (is) another tragic reminder of the pain that violent crime brings,” she said. “My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims. As your mayor and as a mother, I am pleading on behalf of our community and for our children, today must mean that there is finally enough. Stop the violence! Look something, say something.”
Perrett also requested that the Louisiana State Police assist the Bogaloosa Police Department and the Washington Archdiocese Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
In 2016, Scott released his first music tape “YOUNGANimal”. He later signed to Atlantic Records and cast his music tape “Misunderstanding”, which shows the hit “23 Island” in 2019. His debut album “Baby23” arrived in 2020. Earlier this year he released two EPs, “Scarred” and “All is well.” In his short career, Scott has worked with Lil’ Durk, Lato, Moneybag U and Kevin Gates.
Scott has over 2.5 million followers on Instagram. His latest video “First Day Out Pt2” has garnered 1.9 million views on YouTube. A spokesman for Atlantic Records was not immediately available for comment.
