The summer solstice has come and gone, which means a new school year is just around the corner. Fortunately, many of our top picks for student-friendly laptops are currently on sale. In addition to those deals, the M2-equipped MacBook Pro got its first big discount at Best Buy. At $1,499.99, the 512GB configuration of the latest Apple MacBook Pro model is discounted to $1,299.99 at Best Buy, the lowest price yet. Also, the 256GB model that usually sells for $1,299.99 is down to just $1,099.99 at Best Buy.
It may look the same as the older versions of the MacBook Pro — the Touch Bar and all — but it does feature the faster M2 processor. While a tired design and lackluster webcam might not be what every student wants to accept, at least it retains the same excellent performance and battery life as its predecessor. Read our review.
You might want to check out this deal on the Acer Chromebook Spin 513. Normally $459.99, Amazon has discounted the lightweight laptop to just $399.99. A ChromeOS-powered device may not offer the same kind of power and versatility you’ll get in a MacBook or Windows laptop, but the lightweight form factor and long battery life make the Spin 513 an excellent choice, especially for students. This configuration features a 1080p touchscreen with 8GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 7c processor, which should be more than capable of handling most, if not all, ChromeOS apps. Somewhat disappointing, though, is the poor 64GB of internal storage. But if most of your activity is in the browser, this shouldn’t be a big deal. Read our review.
You can currently save $100 on Sony’s WH-1000XM4 at Woot, but only if you purchase it directly through the Woot mobile app. The popular noise-cancelling headphones hit $228 earlier this month during Prime Day, so that’s not a good price, but $249.99 is still a bargain for any given Thursday. And while the XM4 has given way to the XM5s, the older model has many features in common with the newer model.
Besides offering some of the best noise cancellation available in a pair of over-ear headphones, the XM4 supports multi-point Bluetooth connectivity and excellent clarity for voice calls. At $249.99, the XM4 remains a great, more budget-friendly buy. Read our review.
Amazon’s fourth-generation Echo is currently on sale for $59.99 at Amazon and Best Buy, down from its usual $99.99 price tag. The smart, speaker-meets-ball hub provides an extensive library of Alexa skills for home automation jobs. The latest version of the Echo delivers more powerful sound than the cheaper 4th generation Echo Dot. It can also work in tandem with another Echo speaker, giving your audio a major boost by pairing it in a stereo configuration for music or connecting it to your Fire TV streaming device. The Anker Soundcore Liberty Air 2 Pro is a great option for anyone who doesn’t want to shell out more than $100 for a decent pair of noise-canceling earphones. Usually priced at $129.99, Best Buy is currently discounting the blue pair of earbuds to $49.99, their lowest price yet. In addition to offering multiple sizes of ear tips for a comfortable fit, the Air 2 Pro features powerful noise cancellation for the price, and its companion app allows you to fine-tune your listening experience. Our favorite Bluetooth speaker, the Bose SoundLink Flex, is currently discounted at about $129 at Amazon and Best Buy. A Bluetooth speaker in the form of a capsule is usually $149, and that’s the best price we’ve seen since May. The SoundLink Flex is weatherproof and can withstand being buried in some sand or caught in a sudden downpour. In addition to being durable, this speaker also has a battery life of 12 hours and has some of the best sound quality among other Bluetooth speakers available at a similar price.
