WWE SmackDown results, summary, scores: Brock Lesnar appears amid controversy, wrecks Austin Theory

Before facing a Friday night SmackDown, the professional wrestling scene has changed drastically Vince McMahon officially announces his retirement from WWE Accusations of silence money, non-disclosure agreements, and sexual harassment are actively investigated.

Following McMahon’s retirement, reports surfaced that Brock Lesnar had exited the scene prior to his announced appearance and would not be on the show. WWE then removed Lesnar from all advertisements for the show.

However, Lesnar eventually showed up to finish the program, and continued to build until his last permanent match with undisputed champion Roman Reigns at SummerSlam on July 30.

CBS Sports was with you all night with summaries and highlights from TD Garden in Boston.

Brock Lesnar smashes Austin theory amid controversy

The Street Profits and Madcap Moss escaped from The Usos and Theory. Earnings emerged after Stephanie McMahon’s opening promo (see below) only to be interrupted by The Usos and Theory before a brawl broke out and Moss tied the odds. This led to a six-player card match for the main event. Paul Heyman explained to The Usos that despite Theory being their all-night partner, their job was to put him at the end of the show.

The Street Profits and Madcap Moss win. The Usos & Theory by disqualification When Theory uses the Money in the Bank bag to attack Moss. Halfway through the match, The Usos started hitting Theory with super kicks after trying to get out of the match. The Americans seemed ready to do the same until they were attacked by the profits. After Theory attacked Moss, Brock Lesnar hit music and arrived, circling the ring as Theory stood in the middle holding his bag. Lesnar entered the ring before kicking Theory in the stomach, hitting an F-5 and then smashing Theory across the back several times with the bag. Then Lesnar hit one last F-5, dropping the theory on the bag.

In what was one of the strangest days in professional wrestling history, Brock Lesnar kept showing up to do what Brock Lesnar does best. The show looked weird from the jump, with Stephanie McMahon leading cheers for her father and then two hours of mostly unimportant work. After that, Lesnar appeared despite leaving the scene in the wake of Vince McMahon’s retirement. It wasn’t anything special, but he was at least making his public appearance before SummerSlam, so that’s a thing. Class: C
